As a school community we would like to thank Sam Phelan and Scott Arnold for their supervision, and protection, of our children during the bus fire of friday July 29, 2011. On route to the snow fields children noticed smoke coming into the bus from under the seats. The teachers alerted the driver who stopped the bus and all adults commenced evacuating children from the bus. Only minutes later the bus was engulfed in flames and incinerated. Our children and parents may have lost all material possessions but they are all safe. A big thank you to teacher Andrew Devisser for his co-ordination on the day. At a very stressful time Andrew was able to inform relevant authorities, and the schools, make sure everyone was safe and co-ordinate loss claims in the aftermath. We also thank Eastern Metropolitan Region for their follow up with counselling and advice to parents, children and staff.
